Experimenting with materials and printmaking and drawing in my studio.
Drawing & Printmaking
I experimented with numerous printmaking methods during my MA Fine Art studies in order to discover ways for achieving my drawing goals, and the combination of drawing and printmaking gradually developed into a typical way of creating. I've experimented with a variety of forms, including but not limited to Riso printing, Litho prints, etching, and image transfer, as well as a variety of material experiments.
RISO printing produces a retro graphic impression, but litho printing produces a deeper visual impact by twisting the line in the engraving and using different colours. Etching can be used with very fine engraving tools to create delicate and heavy-feeling textural elements. Image transfer can either reproduce images clearly on drawing paper or be blurred and unclear using sophisticated processing techniques, resulting in a visual impression that is somewhere between real and surreal. Each distinct printing method combined with my drawing approach has produced varied outcomes, and I have progressively identified the basic tone of my drawing practice based on the vast experimentation with printmaking and drawing materials that I continue to undertake in my studio.

After experimenting with various drawings, printmaking and materials, I decided that in Unit 3 I would be working with image transfers and incorporating magnetic powders and pencil drawings.
